Monday The overall content of today's lecture was far beyond anything I was aware of or considered in my practice. Very interesting themes, although very complex. I did recognise several example of artwork - Stezaker (Marriage, Old Mask IV) Man Ray (Gift and L'enigme d'Isidore Ducasse) and Dali (The Phenomenon of Ecstacy). Tuesday The film screening (which I was booked on to) was expected to be a marathon showing of Twin Peaks, something that was referenced in the lecture, but also something I've had on the back-burner to view for several years. Sadly, there was a last minute change of plans and the screening was of Mulholland Drive. I did not attend. Wednesday The group tutorial with Lois was an interesting and useful session. It was interesting to see how much progression there was with peers in comparison to my own work. At this point, I was still very much in an experimental stage, searching for a clearer path forward. Friday Group tutorial today with Fran was almost a carbon copy of Wednesday, except far fewer participants. The contrast of opinions between Fran and Lois going forward is a potentially interesting conundrum to have. For example, Lois is content for me to continue creating pieces purely in an analogue format, whereas Fran suggested reprinting and blowing up the collages, especially the remapped collages, to an enormous size. The possibility of seeing my work reprinted on a large scale is exciting, however it really doesn't sit comfortably with me that it will be, ultimately, digitally manipulated.
