Monday I attended this week’s Academic Skills with Linda Matti. Due to the timing of the session, the focus turned to presentation techniques, strategies for speaking in front of audiences and finished with a brainstorming session on a couple of the presentation topics. By chance, there were two others from my Dreamweaver group in this session, so we discussed potential avenues for research with the guidance of Linda and feedback from others. The points of discussion for presentation were: Tuesday The field visit was scheduled to be a tutor group trip to Walsall Gallery. There was mass confusion between the group as to the details of the trip. Nobody knew for certain whether we were meeting at Margaret Street or the gallery. There were also conflicting meeting times between the timetable, a notice in the studio space and also an email. Due to the confusion I decided to remain at home and work on artist research. Wednesday In preparation for meeting the Dreamweaver presentation group, I emailed Theo with some questions. The criteria for the module is:
There was also no requirement to reference any other artist or art history. We considered all the discussion points from the Academic Skills Session, but as there were only a handful of the group that attended the meeting, we settled on researching Reorganisational Theory, consider possibilities for creating a video piece, and start recording a dream diary. Whilst in the social area I bumped in to a third year student, who also progressed from the HND course (except one year above me). I knew that he was interested in collage during the HND so took time to catch up. We discussed the possibility of collaborating and how I could be done. I suggested that I could start a collage, or several collages, which he could then finish in his own style and interpretation. Similarly, in the future, if he started a collage and passed it over to me, I would then finish the piece. Friday After working at home the previous day, I dropped off the ‘started’ collages for collaboration with Lee. I didn’t want to start anything too adventurous, as collaborating was new to both of us, so opted to keep them simple. Hopefully in the future we can continue the venture and start to really test one another.
